Got this emailed to me today. Couldn't help noticing the bad grammar and the fact that Fed Ex doesn't leave packages at "the post office". Slam dunk was they CC'd two other emails similar to mine. Be careful out there this holiday season my friends.

Greg - did you know you posted a live link in that "notice"?

Tom

I get those often along some others like that. The last couple days I have gotten a email saying I have messages at SecurePM.

Don

I wife actually WENT to the post-office and they said "it's a huge scam" and they've been getting tons of inquiries.
I knew it was wrong because it linked FedEx and a local USPS office... and how did they get our email.
She did try to hit the link but Windows 8 (which has many new built-in security features) told her it wasn't safe.

and how did they get our email.

The email they used for me was from Adelphia. Bought out by Time Warner 6 years ago. I still get mail forwarded through TWC even after they said they would cut it off after six months. That was 5 and a half years ago.:rolleyes2:

I used to give out nutty names to certain companies, and then I'd starting getting snail-mail to that person (and knew the origin). Suppose I could do the same with multiple emails.

UPS does use USPS for final delivery for some shipping and Fedup might too. No doubt it's a scam but don't put off USPS delivery or Fedex/UPS packages.

I'm for it too, helps keep the USPS going.

I really don't know about this scam that's going around, but I do know Fedex does drop off packages at the local post office if a package is undeliverable, for what ever reason. I picked up two Fedex packages yesterday at our local post office. Personally I don't like Fedex, as I've had damaged deliveries from them and had to go through the hastle of re-ordering the item at their expense. I use UPS when ever possible. Never had a damaged delivery from them or the postal service! A little advice, ALWAYS check the package when it's delivered! Make the driver wait until you open the package and you are satisfied. If you do it later and find it damaged, your in for a long ride trying to get it replaced or your money back! PJ.

But one thing about the scam is that usually the USPS, UPS and FedEx will leave a note at your door that they tried to deliver... and that's not the case with this scam.

Local post office delivery might be something that happens in smaller towns where there isn't a FedEx distribution point to minimize repeat trips and the associated costs. Here in the suburbs with a FedEx shipping place a couple miles away I've always gone there to pick things that they couldn't leave.

mail box

Your right Mark, the postman usually leaves a note in the mail box, but with these two packages, he didn't! They set in the post office for a week before Fedex emailed me telling me where they were at after running the tracking number. The post office knows I wasn't too happy about it. PJ

Paul - I never knew FedEx used email to contact recipients. How did FedEx get your email address?

Tom

Fed Ex and UPS always leaves my packages on the door step if I'm not home. Come to think of it the post office might be delivering them, I have never seen a Fed Ex or a UPS truck in town.

Got a different new one yesterday; a text message on my phone (SMS) from 415-470-9506 telling me that "Susan said to send you this link: ..." Since the only Susan I know is from a way different area code, I looked the number up and found it to be spam.

John - was that call to your cell phone?

Tom

Okay... which one-a you jokers has MY cell number?!?! :jester:

...somehow I think personal security has been voluntarily breached here.
