Tablet help needed

O.K, I have a Sprint dumb phone w/ zero texting, pics or other stuff on my plan. I'm considering upgrading to possible a smart phone. I'd like to be able to take and send pictures of our artwork to potential clients. A smart phone seems too small screen-wise. I don't know if I can make calls on a tablet type device. I'm COMPLETELY lost when it comes to tech devices like this.

Keep in mind, I want the best yet easiest and cheapest as well. I also realize that all three won't be possible. I might be willing to swap accriers if that's a better option.

Get a Polaroid take some pictures then put em in an envelope and mail them out. That would be the cheapest and probably easiest. Sorry I'm not of any real help.

Some tablets will come with a cell plan so that they can use the data network for Internet access. They won't make calls, though.

I've had an iPhone now for a couple of years, and for most things find the screen to be decently sized, certainly big enough for pictures and such. The new phones have really good cameras, too.

Do keep in that smart phones will require a data plan in addition to the calling plan, so there is that extra cost there.

iPad has a decent camera (same as the iPhone). Surprisingly good pictures, really. Need good natural lighting, but otherwise it's quite functional. If your goal is to email a pic, it will have quality to spare.

For reference, this pic was taken with an iPhone (older model). Current iPad camera is better quality.

that's a darn good looking B....

How is it on close-up shots?

Quite good, really. Attached is a quick shot I took, shrunk down to 640x480. Taken with my iPad (latest version). The original full-sized version shows no artifacts.

Thanks, I'm very fond of it.

Another thought -- I rarely use my dedicated camera anymore, especially for anything I'm just going to email to friends. The iPhone camera is good enough now that it is my snapshot camera.

I printed a copy of that MGB photo above on 8-1/2x11 photo paper to hang up in my room, looks really nice.
