What does Inspector Lynley drive?

I watched a mystery on PBS last night called "The Inspector Lynley Mysteries." It was lame compared to Inspector Morse or any Agatha Christie stuff. Lynley is a real pretty boy with a huge coif. His car is a plain but attractivelooking british 2 door sedan with a very long hood. I've never seen another car like it. Does anyone know what it is?

Thanks
Steve

Its a Bristol 410, circa 1968/9.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if any of these were imported to the US? It is a "handsome" car; I guess that's how best to describe it. I wonder what is under that long hood?

Have a nice day

If I have the right car in mind, it should have
a Chrysler 318ci V8...

I don't think these were exported to the USA.

That said I did see a mid-'50's Bristol 405 sportscar that was someone's project back in the mid-1970s. Don't know whatever happened to it, hope it survived.

In the first couple of series he drove something completely different, still a classic, but what it was has completely escaped me! In the books he drives a Bentley. The books, by the way are 500 times better than the TV show, they're much more in line with Inspector Morse and Prime Suspect, very gritty and realistic. The TV show went for soft viewers instead of true afficiandos.

I believe that it was a Gilbern Invader, though I've not been able to find any reference to it....

Opps... that was wrong, I think. The Jensen list has had a few comments on its having been a Jensen Interceptor...

but I still thought it looked a lot like a Gilbern...

Perhaps Lynley's working his way through Classic saloons....

First car in the series was a Jensen Interceptor - V8 Chrysler engine.

Probably worth mentioning the Internet Movie Car Data Base

I drove the Jensen in this beginning series. It was incredibly fast and very comfortable

Back in the late 1980s, I sold my sailboat to someone in Santa Rosa who invited me in to see his project.
It was a Bristol AC I think it was an ACE but I didn't know anything about them.
He was quite a long way off from completion by the look of it.
All I knew about them was that was the platform used for the original Cobra.
I wonder what ever happened to that car, and also what happened to my boat.
