Very cool!

In his honor, I have this cool North American Aviation Dzus Fastener tool. If you look closely, it has the NAA logo on the handle…

It was probably used in Korea, when Chuck Yeager was spotting (and killing) the MIG-15s from 50 miles away as they came up over the Yalu River with his Mark II eyeballs!

That’s really cool, although I didn’t realize they used them on Sopwith Camels!

😝

Yeah, he was tearing down F4U engines making sure the Navy was well prepared in the interwar period between the Mexican American War and Civil War.
I have it on very good authority that they used Dzus fasteners on the USS Constitution.

My favorite WWII fighter.

I worked at Goodyear Aerospace, which is where some of the F4U Corsairs were built…

Recent pix from the Cleveland Airshow…

I bought new ones for use on the grid and pits in SCCA racing.

My friend Rob worked restoring WWII carrier based aircraft at Vulture's Row
East of Sacramento. He told me that they were restoring a Corsair.
I had inherited an original, unbuilt model kit,& sent it to him,
figuring that I'd never build it and it really needed to go to the right person.

I bought a Corsair F4U R/C. Got it together, have not been able to fly it. Hangs in corner of the garage with my brother in law's pictures if his Cessna 140.

I watched Baa Baa Black Sheep back when it was released for the Corsairs. Found out later that "Pappy" lost all his Marine friends from his advising on the show since the picture painted of the squadron members was darker than what really happened.

I got to meet some of the retired Officers in Pennsecola. I was at Red River small craft airport where BIL kept his Cessna. Had some great history lessons from a couple retired Generals. We sat in chairs watching the mechanics while stories were told.
