Thought of the Day

This is what happens when you buy an EV to save the planet, but a tree destroys it.

If you get a chance, watch Bill Engvall's video, where he changes the
settings on a friends phone.

A political message that meets the guideline (I hope :D)

Speaking of staying involved, the NM DOT has concluded a study of a dangerous intersection not far from me after I started a petition and got nearly 1500 signatures asking for "something" to be done to improve the safety at that intersection.

Our petition did not specify what should be done, only that DOT should study the situation and develop a solution.

Well, they did complete the engineering study and concluded that a roundabout would provide the safest solution. I have done some research on roundabouts and, while I know they are not everyone's favorite thing at an intersection, the Federal highway administration and many states have done studies that show a well-design roundabout reduces the number of serious accidents by up to 70% compared to just a traffic light. This is probably especially true in a rural areas like where we live where people have a tendency to run red lights (resulting in high speed T-bone crashes).

Anyway, next Wednesday, the DOT is having a public meeting to discuss the possibility le solutions. I plan to speak (if given the opportunity) in favor of the roundabout, but I know there are many people who are not happy about that possibility. It should be an interesting meeting.

That's true! - I read it on the Internet.
