I happened to be browsing through the local Indoor Mercado this afternoon and stumbled up on these books. I know they are not rare, but they were in excellent shape (Some look like the were never opened) and very nicely illustrated with lots of old phots as well. I ended up buying all of them because, well, they were only $4.50 each. (There are more books in this series, but this was shat was available).

Top left -to-right: The Gunslingers, The Indians, The Great Chiefs, The Pioneers, The 49ers, (Bottom row): The Ranchers, The Loggers, The Townsmen, The Soldiers The Texans.

That looks like some very interesting reading!

And the books to the left are my kind of material ... I always admired Powell (and wished he'd run for President).

PS - if you get a chance to see the movie "Train Dreams" - very moving and human story.

A Mishipman who our Son knew was dating Tom Clancy's daughter at the time.
I know,I know - that & $10 will get me a cup of coffee at Satarbucks.

My mom bought my dad that series back in the 80s. Being Time Life it was a subscription, one book a month.
