I have been a member here for a while with my Spridgets, my Arkley SS, and an MG TD. Just bought my first Triumph, a ‘64 TR4 project. I will probably be seeking some expertise. Tried to add photos but it says the file is too large. I have no idea how to reduce the file size of an image on my iPad.

Congrats on the new project.
I always like the TR4. I think early cars make just about the best all-around TR. You get the robust 4-cylinder, the simpler solid axle rear, and gorgeous styling with rull up windows.
Be sure to get a thread going so we can follow along with the work on getting it back up and driving.

Most of the interior is gone, though the dash and instruments look pretty good, the dash pads not so much. Seats are missing. It looks like someone installed carbs from a 4A and they are a mess. It will be a project for sure.

The carbs from a TR4A are HS series instead of H and are simpler. Hopefully you have the TR4A manifold as well as it is considered the best of the TR 4-cylinder cars. The PO on my car actually went backwards and put H6's on my TR4A, I changed to the HS6's. Now you get to learn all about wet liner motors as well. Good luck, looks like a nice project. Bruce
 
The plus is that the car is fairly complete.
You are correct, the carbs are HS6. There were 100 of these installed on TR4s then more on TR4As before the switch to Strombergs.
My personal opinion is that the HS6 is a superior carb to definitely the H6 on the TR3 &4. I have never delved into the Strombergs. I have 2TR4s and a TR3A, I have converted all 3 to the HS6 carbs as you have on your car. If you want more info about the differences please contact me. I simply love them compared to the H6.
