When the fuel gauge needle swings all the way to full even when there is only a 1/4 tank of fuel is that an indication of a bad ground at the gauge itself or is it more likely a bad ground or the wrong sending unit? All the other grounds of the wiring at the frame and top of the gas tank seem OK. I installed what I thought was a newer sending unit but same issue. I'd like to avoid crawling under the dash if I don't have to. If there was a bad ground at the gauge would the gauge needle pin all the way to full or would the needle bounce around? Any thoughts?
