Maybe we should have an interesting sign thread

Cigarettes are cheap in Virginia (relatively speaking),and a lot
of younger people smoke here (& vape).
And I thought this generation would be a lot smarter than mine.

We humans are not smart when it comes to social/chemical things.
I used to buy and use coke just to get laid, not that it worked.

I don't smoke, but I gave my neighbor's youngest the advice he should consider quitting, he's early 30s. Told him my maternal grandfather had dropped dead in his early 50s back in 62 and he was a 2-3 pack a day guy. Plus my oldest friend's dad spent the last 25 years of his life with an oxygen tank due to lung damage from smoking. Since they young fellow is as old as he is, told him it was advice, not a directive to quit.

Years ago, I was able to just stop and not think about it.
It wasn't so easy for me. Took me several tries to finally kick it. In fact, it too me getting Strep Throat to finally get me to stop. Long story. but were it not for Strep I'd probably still be smoking.

I was gonna quit when they went up to 50 cents. Then I was sure gonna quit when they went up to a dollar. What finally stopped me after many failed attempts was the surgeon saying "Don't waste your money and my time if you intend to keep smoking."
