I was surprised to see Chase appear. They were a really tight group, but weren't around long; Bill Chase, the founder, and several other band members died in a plane crash in 74. Before forming his own band in 1970 Chase had played lead trumpet for Maynard Ferguson, Stan Kenton, and Woody Herman. His band was nominated for a Grammy for best new Artist in 71 but lost to Carly Simon.

For an example of how tight the band was here is a recording of their "Git It On" live:

Another performance from the same program of their tune "Open Up Wide" which highlights the trumpet section:

I can count on one hand how many times I listened to Def Leppard.
