Paul McCartney - I'm in the queue

I had signed up for early sales to see Paul McCartney. He's coming to Albuquerque in October. General ticket sales start in the 18th, but I signed up to get early sales access. I'm currently sitting here in the queue waiting for my turn to buy tickets. The queue position assignment is random, not first come first served. Unfortunately there are currently 58598 people ahead of me in the queue. I have to wait my turn and buy whatever is best available. I hope by the time it;s my turn there are still decent seats available. This is going to be at the Isletta Amphitheater in Albuquerque.
 
Well, that was fun while it lasted. By the time I got into the system to buy tickets all teh tickets in my price range (n o more than $1000 for two) were sold out. The only things left would have cost north of $4,000. I like McCartney, but not THAT much!
 
Well, while the live experience would be the best, you may still end up being able to see it online at some point as I'd guess it'll be recorded at some point during the tour. Not optimal, but better than nothing.

Yep, that will have to suffice. But at least we got to see Ringo and he really did put on a great show.
 
I paid $600.00 for 2 when he came to Shreveport s few years ago.

Back when I started to attend live concerts.
 
I'm sure that Paul needs the money.
It's really irritating to me that singers like
that charge crazy prices.
Jimmy Buffett did a concert in Charlottesville,VA,
and I was excite until went to buy tickets,& saw the
prices they were charging.It's also about a four hour
round trip,+ gas & food.
 
Metallica did a concert in Christiansburg,VA a while back.
I read where they used 87 semis for the show.
 
In high school I paid $5.00 to see Neil Diamond in Greenwich Village.

It's not necessarily the artists that charge those crazy ticket prices.

It's often the event presenter, and/or the artist's agents.

I'd bet that if people didn't pay those high prices for their entertainment - the prices would drop. Maybe they could donate some of their "fun" money to help people in need. Best seats in the house - $13K each; maybe some priorities need adjusting ...

I think they are calling it "dynamic pricing". The more demand for tickets, the higher the prices go. There was a big kerfuffle about this with several artists a year or so ago. Some have refused to use it and some claim to have found no contractual ability to change it.

We've seen so called dynamic pricing with other stuff as well, like fast food and groceries, they'd go up a bit during high use times and back to usual when buying overall dropped. Didn't really seem to work as folks complained or just didn't buy.

All part for the money managers of the how can we max out income model. I suspect if those doing the counting for any big cash flow business were allowed, they'd just bill all of us once a month and not provide anything in return. Then expenses drop to zero or close and all they need to do is count the dollars.
 
I went to see B.B. King in Ft. Worth with my ex wife a couple of years before he died. I want to say that tickets were like $20 a piece, and we were able to get right up front.

Took a date to see BB in San Francisco back in the 80's.
Small venue, right up front, unforgettable.
