I am wondering if this water valve can be taken apart so that the handle is pointing away from engine and easier to turn off and on when needed. Suggestions please.
It can be taken apart, but I don't think the handle can be realigned. When the handle is located as shown, water flows to the heater. When the handle is straight out from the engine block, flow is shut off. The best way of making it turn easier is to push the plug up from the bottom. I use a pair of pump pliers with one jaw on the bottom of the plug and the other on the edge of the body next to the handle.

Hello John , thanks for your reply but I am not sure you are following me here . I understand the heater / water valve in this picture illustrates water flowing to the heater , however when this valve is bolted up to the engine and u want no water flowing to the heater it seems to me that the handle on the valve gets pushed up to the engine very tightly like almost to the point where its short of shutting off because the handle on the valve is hitting the engine - is there a way to take apart and reverse the handle on the valve so it points away from the engine when closed ? Thanks

Got it. Yes, you can take the valve apart by removing the cotter pin on the bottom and rotating the handle 180 degrees. When open, the handle will be in line with the hose, but point away from it.
