TR2/3/3A Steering wheel stuck on shaft???

The control head,stator tube and wiring have been removed. The Locknut has been removed. Normally the steering wheel can be just pulled from the shaft by rocking it from left to right and gradually working it off but in this case the wheel is on there Good! Anyone have any ideas on how to free the wheel? I thought maybe reinstalling the nut and figuring out a way to use a puller maybe by hooking a puller with long and wide arms attached to the lip of the metal surround on the 'other side' of the wheel and the threaded part of the puller on the Locknut.... maybe with an old nut between the puller stem and the Locknut.??? I have tried forcefully pulling the steering wheel by hand but the wheel bends too easily. I don't want to bugger up the 1" of shaft threads that are still showing.:(

Solved the problem. Split column Loosened the clamp levered the shaft up. Doh!:oops:
