I remember I was stationed at Kirtland ABF. living in base housing. I was home that day, laying on the couch when my next door neighbor called, "Did you hear John Lennon was killed?" Hard to believe that was 44 years ago.

Surprised there hasn't been more discussion.

I felt the same on December 7 a couple years ago, when I posted a photo and article about the attack on Pearl Harbor. There were no replies.

When Lennon was murdered on December 8, I was at work (furniture factory) when we heard the news. Just about all the people under 50 stopped working and pulled out their pocket radios.

Howard Cosell announcing Lennon's death during a Dolphins v Patriots game.

Here's Howard a few years earlier chatting with Lennon at a game and Lennon comparing football to Soccer and Rugby.

I remember Lennon being shot, found out when I came back to my then dorm room. Most of the guys I knew then didn't really care, musically they'd moved beyond him due to the use of Yoko on his post Beatles work and the period of being relatively unknown before starting his last work.

I think that sometimes these posts don't gain too much traction anymore because of the number of times we have had the discussion. I know that this year I didn't put up a post about Pearl Harbor on the 7th because I figured that a couple of people would hit like and Tom would comment, and that would be that.

No Tom, don't do that. I look forward to you responding to my posts, even when you are the only one.

Methinks Tom may stop hitting like, posting and commenting.

Might spur more folks to post in the Pub!
If you do that I'll have to visit you in the small hours and put a bat up your night dress! I think people just get busy - especially around the holidays. I know I do.

I was just there two weeks or so ago…
