MGB Positive Battery cable?

I have the engine in my project at this time (despite my surprise at having gotten even that far) but now have a new puzzle:

I'd purchased the longest battery cable Moss had listed (72 inch I think, it was over a year ago) and now that the engine and starter are in place, it seems to be about 6 inches short of reaching the terminal lug on the starter with no extra at the other end. So do I need to find a place that manufactures custom-length battery cables or is there a proper length cable for the MGB available somewhere for purchase somewhere in the USA? I am not able to make international purchases so ordering from overseas is not really a practical option.

I wonder if it's "short" because of changing the car's polarity. I had a similar problem on my TR3, so just turned the battery around 180°.

Its a 1973 body, so it would have been negative earth from the factory. I routed the new cable along the same path that the remains of the old one were (it had been cut at the engine compartment end) and oriented the battery to keep the run as short as possible. Unfortunately I had installed the cable a good year or more prior to getting the engine/starter combo back in, and just realized last weekend that I was coming up way short on the starter end.

I went to a welding supply shop to purchase the cable.

Unfortunately I don't have the equpment to do the ends myself (and I much prefer using the molded-on end for the battery side). It looks like NAPA has (available only by special order) a 78 inch or 84 inch cable which is about what I need - the 72 inch one from Moss came up about 4-5 inches short. I'l measure out exactly what I need this weekend and see which one is the closer fit.
