Here's a picture of a IBM Tech building a computer in 1949. That doesn't look too bad after wiring up an old British car, well, maybe just a tad more! :devilgrin:

I guess when you bought a computer back then, (aside from the cost) :rolleyes2:, they gave you a truck just to haul it around! I can't even imagine what those guys would think about what the future would bring and what they started.

Pretty sure I've mentioned this before. In the 70's I was a maintenance man on the NORAD Sage computer system (IBM Q-7). There were several areas in which a tech could be qualified: Central Computer, Memory, Inputs, Outputs, Tape machines, Printer, computer entry punch, displays and "Plugablle Unit" lab (where we repaired the replaceable "Pluggable Units" when they were replaced with spares. I was qualified in every area by the time I left.
