If I remember correctly it was 25 cents for the afternoon show. (y)
Of course, 25 cents was a lot of money for a kid back then.

I remember 35 cents and it was 50 for a double feature on Saturdays.

Lived in Corpus Christi from '60-'64. My older sister was dating a guy stationed at the Naval Air Station. Got to go to the movies there several times - 10 cents, if memory serves!

And for us in the South, it was usually air conditioned!
My dad told me about one day that he watched Big Red three times because of the a/c.

Being raised in a very religious household, I wasn't allowed to go to the movies until I was in 2nd grade and only then because it was a Disney animal picture.

I made up for lost time as an adult, however...

When Dad was stationed at an Army Hospital post in Germany mid-60's, we kids would go to the Post movie theater and it was only 25 cents per movie. What fun!

Neighborhood theater was 10 cents for under 12. One Saturday shortly after my birthday I was trying to still get by for a dime when my own little sister ratted me out, claiming "but you're 12 now." From then on it was 25 cents for me.

Little sisters will do that!

Back in the day, I remember seeing Disney's "Fantasia" (the original) at our local movie palace (Fort Worth, TX). The "Rite of Spring" section was omitted, as it implied Evolution instead of Creationism. But the newly-invented Disney "fantasound" (stereo) was ear-popping!

(Quite a story of how Disney's teams discussed and settled on the various sections of the film, back in the late 1930s.)
