In late 1974, at the age of 26, I ordered a brand new 1975 White TR6 from Precision Motors of Dallas,Texas. The sports car was to be delivered sometime in early 1975. Three months later I received a call that my car had arrived. When I showed up at the dealership, to my surprise, the car was the color Topaz. The salesman quickly said that I could wait for the next shipment (hope for a white one) and pay $500 more. I quickly accepted the Topaz color car parked in front of me. After a month or so of driving I made a promise to myself to keep the car until I retired. I am 75 now and retired, and living in New Mexico north of Santa Fe. The car has a few dings and scratches, however the paint is original and looks darn good. I drive this beauty regularly and have since come to love the color. And I get quite a few compliments on the car.

Don - welcome to BCF. That is one heck of a great looking TR6; doubly so, as you've been its guardian since new. And a few dings and scratches are proof you've been enjoying the car - not locking it up in a "safe house".

Photos of the engine and interior would be welcome indeed!

Closer to Taos
Yeah I looked up El Prado. Practically a suburb of Taos. Wife and I recently took a drive up there (last fall). Did a big loop to Taos, Questa, Red River, Eagle Next, Angel Fire, etc. Beautiful part of the state.

Many years ago my wife and I left Chicago in our Ford Explorer and our 2 Dobermans and headed west. Eventually we came across Taos and Angel Fire. We loved it there! We looked into employment possibilities as we were between jobs at the time and a move was possible. Unfortunately, jobs in that area are scarce and we ended up back in Chicago in the end.

Why do they call it Topaz?
I would describe it more like McLaren Orange.
Doesn't matter what it's called, It's cool.
