Post office in my part of the world started requiring a reservation to get service. You just click on their app, choose your day and time, and when you arrive there is almost never more than a very few people waiting. The closest post office to me used to have huge lines particularly at the beginning of the month. At worst I have had to wait a day or two (frequently same or next day is available) but no significant line once you are there. Pharmacies in my area have also adopted similar systems.
They have a voice menu or you could wait for a human operator for the real technophobes.... or your computer at home or Starbucks..... Don't need to do everything on a smartphone.
