Bilstein information

I installed a set of Bilstein shocks I acquired from Udo Putske about 20 years/70K miles ago and while I have no reason to think they are in any way defective I don't think they owe me much and would like to address rebuilding or replacing them this winter. I don't know if Udo is still in business but in any case does anyone have info on rebuilding or replacement?

Udo sold that business to a guy that I can't remember his name. But, he is the person that arranged the trip to Norway for the Healey group last year. The name will come to me eventually.

I made contact with Udo asking his advice re replacement.

He replied: "Hi Michael, if there not dripping oil, there will be good for 170-200k miles. You can full compress each and check that the chrome shaft is not more visible than 1/2".

There are presently no leaks nor untoward noises. Perhaps I'll dismount the shocks and do the compression test but it sounds like I have about 100,000 miles of life left in them. I hope I can use that up.

FWIW: I put Bilstein shocks on my '96 Ranger when I bought it new (the OEM shocks were pure crap). The truck now has about 130K miles and the shocks perform like new.
