The school year is starting up, which means I will be driving through the Wichita Mountains every morning and afternoon again, and taking pictures left and right. I stopped and snapped this with my cell phone today.

Walt - what a great way to start the day.

Are the Wichita Mountains the same as the Ouachita Mountains?

I used to go camping in the Ouachitas back in the 1970s. Beautiful country.

Tom, thanks. I get to drive through the mountians on my way to and from work everyday, so I feel pretty lucky in that regard.

They are not. The Wichitas are in the SW part of the state and the Ouachitas are in the SE part of the state. Our geology is primarily igneous rock, while the Ouchitas are folded sedimentary rock.

The Ouchitas are a beautiful area, especially if you are a fan of greenery.

Beautiful sunrise! WAs that picture taken left, or was it right? :p
This one was left. The right side ones aren't all that impressive in the morning.

After we moved into our house here,I asked my Wife -
"How come the Sun comes up in the North?" Turns out our
house doesn't face East, like I assumed it did.
Nice picture Walter. We have some nice sunrises here too,
which makes a nice drive to work, with the Blue Ridge Mountains
all sides.

And don't forget the Perseid Meteor Shower tomorrow night.
Starts at 11 here.

Thanks Doug.

We've had heavy cloud cover all day, I'm not sure I am going to get to see the meteor shower.

After getting off of the hated Daylight Savings and back to normal time, I am no longer driving to work in the dark. Which means I get another round of nice sunrises to enjoy.
