Well, it IS an "import" after all...

(the same mentality that lumps a 1950s Bentley with a mid-80s Mercedes, a 10-year-old Lexus, and a sticker-still-in-the-window VW Passat in the same "import" class at car shows)

Another very early inventor was Hopper, I forgot his first name but was designed as the one shown, but I think it was wood faced with a copper tank hung high on the wall and a pull chain. Growing up as a kid that's what it was called in our house. Now I know that some of you old guys remember that! PJ :thumbsup2:

Air bags dont deploy under 30 miles per hour, thats why it does not need any. even down hill with the wind behind it,
yeah they do - don't ask me how I know. but I agree with the sentiment.

I'm sad to say - something that you don't see as much as you would think - a MINI with a manual transmission. Hope you and the MINI are okay.
i stand corrected,

Typically, a front airbag will deploy for unbelted occupants when the crash is the equivalent of an impact into a rigid wall at 10-12 mph. Most airbags will deploy at a higher threshold — about 16 mph — for belted occupants because the belts alone are likely to provide adequate protection up to these moderate speeds.

Such a shame that a vehicle impact at such low speeds could result in writing the car off, not due to the damage to the vehicle but to the damage the airbags do.

I'm fine, the Mini probably not - we are still trying to determine (and by we I mean the insurance company) At the towing compound they figured I hit the other car exactly straight on (I rear ended someone)

Doesn't look like a lot but 10 year old car with 200,000 km (120k miles)

we'll see.

BTW with the accident I have rarely ever dealt with a kinder group of people - the person I hit, the tow truck driver the cop - it was amazing. It was on the highway on Friday at rush hour and I even had two construction trucks - dump truck and a pickup woth dualies (both with flashing yellow lights) they parked across traffic for the hour or so it took to protect me and the other involved. Reminded me that most people are good people

Look on the bright side - if the insurance company totals it,
you can buy a really cool lifted 4WD Crew Cab pickup.

totally my jam

we are narrowing options just in case - likely a smallish SUV (we really do need four doors as we only have one Daily Driver) though there is at least one Mini clubman on the list and one of those does have a 6 speed. We are driving a Hyundai Kona right now and while there is a lot to like, it doesn't have much zip. OTOH the last time we had an automatic in the driveway was the minivan in 2002. :driving:

After looking at what seemed to be 50 houses, we found a place on a cul-de-sac with two garages, both 2 cars wide and 2 cars deep. The detached garage was built to store an RV on one side, so I have a lift that I can walk under (that reminds me I need to respond to the question about mods made to the Healey so I fit). And there was a house too, with bedrooms and everything! And a hardware store just down the street.

Instead of storing the RV on one side, wouldn't have been better to store it on it's wheels?
