Interesting thought but they would be expensive. Also mounting is a bit of a mystery. I wonder if anyone has a picture of one off the car. They are on the original AMCO catalog for $37.95.
They also might allow more air flow but that's just a guess on my part.
Similar is the Beta TR3B grille that never went into production. (I think somebody sold one of those 10 years ago on eBay).

Is there a greater risk of stone damage to radiators with the greater spacing ?

Seems logical that would be the case. However, that might be offset by improved air flow and cooling.
When my TR3 was my only ride in the 1960's, I drove it for a year or more with no front grille, until I came up with the few bucks to buy a new one. As I remember, it seemed to run hotter with the new grille. Of course memories from my youth are probably quite unreliable (as are my memories from earlier today).

That’s interesting as I picked up this grill couple years ago but not fitted due to fear of rad and oil cooler damage.
i already painted my repo grill and folded the grill bars as they are much wider than original.
i don’t really suffer heat issues as I have an elec fan. But is it bling ?
I can obviously use the original side light/indicator.

Bling? Probably but who cares? I do suspect it would attract some attention at a show.
It also appears that yours is made from flat stock rather than tube so would be easier, but not easy, to fabricate.

I like the look. It sure looks like it was made for a TR3. Do you know who was the manufacturer was? Are they hard to find in England?

Definitely made for the 3a. I haven’t seen another and suspected it was a one off. Yes it’s flat bar and I think powder coated. I may be wrong about it being a one off as it seems a quality item. Certainly heavier than the Ali stock item.
