Yes, I said 400MP! My current 45MP R5 may be getting a firmware upgrade that adds something akin to pixel shift, which they are calling "IBIS" High Resolution.
Canon has confirmed there will be a big firmware update for my R5 in the next 30 days, but one of the "strong rumor" features they are calling "IBIS High Resolution" which is purported to bring a crazy 400MP capability to the camera!

What size are the files then?!?

"The IBIS High Resolution image will measure 24576 x 16384 pixels!"

I think you're gonna "need a bigger boat!"

I would guess HUGE! My RAW images are in the range of 30MP on the low end to 45MP on the high end, depending on what is being shot and the dynamic range of the scene. So I'd
guess that these images would be at least north of 300MP. Just a guess.

Here is an earlier video he did on rumors of the upcoming firmware update. Two that stand out for me are the "PreShooting" which keeps a buffer of images that are shot BEFORE you even press the shutter button. So, for example, if you were trying to capture a bird leaving it's perch, and you press the shutter button as soon as your brain sees it star to leave, you probably won't have th reflexes or reaction time to capture the exact moment the bird leaves the perch. But with Reshooting, you will have 20 or so images that were captured just before you actually pressed the button fully! This could be huge for wildlife and sports.

Another thing that popped out at me was the compensation for lens focus breathing! That could be a huge improvement too, especially for macro photography where the effects are very noticeable.
