My filters finally arrived!

My Maven Filters from the Kickstarter campaign arrived today! Woo hoo! I have not had a chance to do much with them yet, except take a couple of comparison photos with and without the CP filter in place. I was very impressed with the packaging and overall presentation! These filter look very well made and they do seem to hold onto the adaptor very nicely.

I love that there are three ways to carry these: The plastic holder they came in, or the included soft carrier, or just stack them together magnetically and put the front and back cover on (the back cover is sold separately but I bought it). When just stacked together with the front and rear covers on, the whole stack is less than 1 inch thick (I measured about 14/16th, give or take).

The set came with the following 77mm filters:
1 Splash filter (not a UV, just optically clear for use in situations where the lens may get sand or water, etc on it)
1 Circular Polarizer (Blue)
1 3-Stop ND filter
1 6-Stop ND filter
1 10-stop ND filter
Also bought a 67-77 step ring adaptor to use these filters of my 67mm lens
A hard plastic carry case (The blue case on the left)
A zippered soft case

The 5 filters and front and back cover are seen in the center, held together magnetically.

Whole "system" makes great sense. Especially for what you're doing. The whole stack is compact, too. Just shy the RCH (Royal Cat Hair) of an inch makes for easy stowage. And color coded! All very impressive.

It was a Kickstarter campaign so I knew I was taking a gamble, but if they turn out to be as good as advertised I'll be happy. The fellow making them is a guy I've been following for a few years so I felt pretty comfortable. I have a few of his excellent tutorial videos.

By jumping in on the Kickstarter campaign I got them for 1/2 the normal retail price. The color coding (once you memorize it) makes it much easier to grab the filter you want without having to squint and see what filter you have. Now I just need to get out somewhere and try these different ND filters. Wish I was near some water.
