Filter Set on the way!

A while back I stumbled upon a review of some new filters being developed by Michael Andrew (aka Michael the Maven). He's someone I've been following on YouTube for a few years and I have purchased a few tutorials from him, which I thought were great.
Anyway, he had a "Kickstarter" program (now closed) to fund the production of these filters and, feeling confident since Michael was involved, I jumped on that Kickstarter train and will be getting a set at a very deep discount to what the retail will be. I am getting the complete set of filters in 77mm size, also with a 67m, step up ring. This should cover all the lenses I own with which I would foresee using filters.

You'd mentioned these a while back. Watching a couple of the videos it appears you've done well.

Haven't looked into them yet to see if they are amenable to an "a la carte" type of purchase. Step-down rings look to be available, so that's no issue but my most used filters (aside from UV's) are polarizers. The ND ones are really not much use for the things I shoot.

It'll be interesting to see what you do with them. It's a well thought-out system, for sure.

I use NDs mainly for shooting long exposures where I want to capture that misty water effect, for example. I know people also will use NDs for video and for shooting shallow DOF (large aperture) shots in harsh lighting (something I've not done). Now that I'll have a good set I'll probably do more experimenting.

Certainly hope so!

With an ND 10, that 85mm ∱2.0 at full aperture would isolate a head-n-shoulders portrait subject just as well as the faster glass. Subtract the cost of the Maven filters from the $2K you'd save! :ROFLMAO::jester:
