Just saw this on Bring a trailer. I bought an excellent example OEM hard top for my Type a few (maybe 5) years ago for $1800. After seeing this, I'm glad I jumped on that deal when I did.

I need to quit looking on there,as I get really irritated.
Seems that a large percentage of the sellers are dealers,or
vehicles that were just bought a short time ago & flipped.
Also a lot of new vehicles that were bought just to flip,
depriving those who can't afford to pay the flippers prices.
And just where are all these buyers with WAY too much
money when I go to sell something?

This post should be mandatory reading for our spouses!!

Reminds me of buying a restoration hardtop for my Sunbeam years ago, paid $300 then. Now I've seen project tops go as high as $3k since they're popular right now.

Bought the factory hardtop now on this MGB back in January of 1971 from a guy in Hampton, VA (checkbook stub to prove it!). $100. Been on three of our B's since that purchase. Wouldn't part with it.

Probably cost 10x that (or more) today.
