To the contrary. I just believe the P.R. or linguistics folks didn't think it through. Another "language barrier" faux pas, IMO. I'd have a Toyota powered Lotus in an eyeblink. 👍

As Doug says, it's too obvious.
 
Reminds me of why the Chevy Nova didn't sell well in Spanish speaking countries ...
 
I went down to Duncan Imports yesterday.They have a lot
of JDM (Japanese Domestic Vehicles) on display/for sale.Some
of the model names are interesting.There was a Toyota Publica-
"Mighty Girl" ute.It was smaller than a regular Corolla.

Looking at their expressions,& the beers in their hands,
I don't think I'd make fun of them ,at least not to their face.
