What's everyone reading?

It can be impossible to take a book that spans over a long period and compress it to a couple hours. I've seen other stuff I liked as books but made terrible movies since they had to cut so much and consolidate characters.
Apples and Oranges to be sure.
Sometimes if I like a movie, I'll get the book.
That enhances the visual references sometimes.
I haven't been to a movie in a theater in five years.
Can't keep up with the dialog without the closed captions.

On a side note, anyone taking advantage of 'Little Free Libraries'.
In our small town we have at least four around town.

I never had but we have a bunch of them in the L.A. area. I know of one about 3 blocks from me. I had been thinking of doing a photo series of them.

There are a bunch in our neighborhood, but since I got the "Libby" app, I've been too busy downloading electronic books from the library.

Currently, Ann Hillerman, daughter of Tony Hillerman, The Rainbow Bridge, a Jim Chee, Bernie Manuelito, Joe Leaphorn mystery. Also a Clive Cussler wanna be about a terrorist attack on NYC.

I've never read any of Ann's books, I've always been a little wary just because I'm a huge fan of her father's work.

Dr. Zhavigo, never read the book, but loved the movie! Saw it 3 times over the years. Read this book by Eric von Daniken periodically whenever the mood strikes me. Reading it with an open mind, it's interesting. :encouragement:

Now I'm reading The Cheese and the Worms, it's about a Northern Italian Miller tried she executed for heresy in the 16th century.

Finally getting around to reading a book that I've had for a while -
JIM CLARK - Portrait of a Great Driver.

I heard an interview with the author of Jaws. His opinion was his book ended properly, but so did the movie. Different genres, different ending.

I initially read with wary eye. Bernie Manuelito plays a bigger part and the Legendary Lieutenant Leaphorn plays a much smaller part. After reading several of the books it seems Jim Cher and Bernie seem to split the reader’s attention. I’m thinking Ms. Hillerman is trying for her own voice rather than trying “be her dad.”

Hamalainen is a good scholar. He is Finnish and while he did teach at Texas A&M for two years he is primarily an European in Europe looking at Indians. This naturally eschews his point of a view a bit. He has done some excellent work in the equestiranism of Plains Tribes, notably the Comanche and Lakota. His current book Indigenous Contient is not as good as his previous work though.
