Someone is happy about the new California laws banning gas powered cars

The Pub is: A forum to generally shoot the breeze. The Pub is NOT: a debate forum (NO Politics, religion, or controversial topics.) Keep it clean, fun and lite!
This is one of those topics with potential to go off the rails.

Sorry. I didn't even think of the politics. But I bet the buggy whip makers would be happy, too.

Which ironically is what Basil will be coming after us with if the thread goes off the rails. :ROFLMAO: (and of courese the bat up our night dress but we all know about that)

Potentially yes, but that doesn't mean it's not funny.
Anything (literally) can go off the rails if someone wants it to.

That’s why it didn’t get deleted (yet). Politics aside, the underlying topic, whether you agree or disagree, in my opinion fits the definition of a controversial topic. There are a ton of things I find funny that I don’t post because I know for a fact that only half the members would find them funny…the other half would have their panties in a bunch.
If I’m concerned a topic fits into the “controversial” category, that doesn’t imply anything about how I feel personally about the topic.

Basil,
You have a difficult, thankless and unpaid job.
I know I would never be able to do it.
Thanks for your service.
Steve

What I want to know about the whole thing has less to do with the politics or even the article (which I can't even get to) but I am far more interested in why some outfit calling themselves "peoples cube" is telling me that they need to "verify the security of my connection" and they seem to think that the best way to do that is tell me to enable Javascript (which is exactly the OPPOSITE of anything resembling security).

Why does a news site care about connection security? Are they afraid someone else might packet sniff me and see the article (which supposedly anyone can see anyway)?

Honestly I'd treat it the same way as those requests to install software that pop up as ads on any site, telling you your machine has viruses, install, saying you need a new version of flashplayer or such or you need their Chrome or Edge or other extensions for best performance. I ignore and move on. I don't get that with known left or right leaning new sites like CNN, Fox, etc.
