Thank you for accepting me into your group.

“Martha” and I reside in Burnaby, BC, Canada.

Martha lived her life until recently in sunny Kelowna, BC. I drove her home (about 400kms) and she ran fantastic! Burned 1litre of oils and without an overdrive she was about 3,600 rpm most of the way.

She will require:

-New speedo
-Sorting temp gauge
-Sorting windshield wipers not working
-Sorting heater fan blower motor not working
-Having new soft top installed
-Replacing aftermarket muffler with factory stock which I have a new one

Future plans:
-Change to electronic ignition
-Black label overdrive transmission

Basically, a safe and reliable car that I drive often.

Welcome! '73 was definitely a great year for the B. I restored one a while back for my wife - had it painted Black Tulip, with tan leather interior and tan fabric top. Overdrive was fantastic for driving at speed. Problem was that she hardly ever drove it, so I sold it a while back.

Anyway, post your questions in the MG section here; plenty of folks at the ready to assist/commiserate.

Many thanks! I will certainly “B” posting questions.
I think my most pressing issues are:
-wipers not working
-heater fan not working
-horn not working
-temperature gauge not working (stuck as if overheating)
-resolving the speedometer (not working at all)

do you suggest chasing these electrical issues with a voltmeter?

I would love to see photos of the car you sold, sounds like a nice colour!

Cheers!

I'll see if I can scare up a picture for you.

As for your issues, either a voltmeter or test light will work fine. Check the fuses on your green and green/white wire (where it connects to the green/black wire ahead of the wiper circuit).

And here's a great wiring diagram; scroll down to find your year: http://www.advanceautowire.com/mgb.pdf

Be sure to post your specific questions in the MG section below.

Thank you, Mickey!

Thank you, I sure wish Westwood track was still there. Sadly, long gone. Do you have any photos?

I have some around here (somewhere) that I took when I joined
up with the Lotus Club there for Expo 86.They had a vintage racing
event at Westwood.I took some (poor quality) video when I got a ride
around the track in a Lotus Super Seven.
