Now at 76 1/2 some things went South Last month had Cancer removed off my Kidney now next week open hart surgery on my valve. All good but car work is on hold.

I'm in the highest placing group which doesn't surprise me, considering that we and many of our friends were all using LBC's as our daily drivers back when we were in our teens and twenties.

Indeed. Drove MGB's, Alfas and the S-3 Elan as the daily drivers for decades. But can't dare now, having to dodge a soccer mom's SUV or some bozo's 4x4 pick-up in traffic. Sad, really. Even had some "older lady" once tell me of the Elan: "It shouldn't be that small!"

My parents bought a 1955 Jaguar Mk VII (saloon) for me to drive when I graduated high school (1966). They felt the Mk VII would protect me if hit by a Greyhound bus! (I think they were right!). That began the addiction - what a neat car that was for a Texas kid in college.

Actually they'd considered an Armstrong Siddeley Hurricane first - but they figured the Greyhound Bus might win the battle.

I’m not old, but I got my first British car for free in 1978. It was a 1959 Hillman Minx convertible that didn’t run and already had a top in tatters. It cost me 10 bucks to get it running when I found a Morris Minor distributor at a British car repair shop. It cost about another 10 bucks or so for the rebuild kits for the master & wheel cylinders at the local BAP to get it stopping.
BTW, “Old is always 15 years older than I am!”
