May 20th 1946 – A USAAF Beech C-45F Expeditor, 44-47570, of the 4108th AAF Base Unit, Air Material Command, piloted by Manuel R. Campbell, on a navigation training flight from Lake Charles Army Air Field, Louisiana, crashes in darkness and foggy conditions into the 58th floor of the Bank of Manhattan Trust Building at 40 Wall Street, Manhattan, New York City, whilst on approach to Newark Army Airfield, New Jersey. The four crew on board were killed, no injuries on the ground.…

I was negative two years old, but it reminds me of the B-25 flying into the Empire State Building in 1945:


Airplanes and bad weather - not a good mix.

I was just a twinkle in my mamma's eyes.
 
I have never heard of that incident, but like Tom, it reminded of the B-25 that crashes into the Empire State Building.
 
Reminds me of the old joke - Delivery nurse comes to see father in waiting room, and says "Congratulations! We think it's a baby!"
