Quite a movie. Pilot makes a crash landing in the Arctic. He spends days sleeping, fishing, and radioing for help. After weeks, he finally sees rescue helicopter coming, but then watches it crash in a snow storm.

Pilot finds one survivor in the helicopter, carries her (unconscious) to his crashed airplane for shelter ... then spends days dragging the survivor on a sledge across ice and snow, but knowing he has no way to reach the nearest camp. Sees another helicopter on the ice, waves madly to get attention, then the helicopter lifts off and disappears.

What happens next is ... well, guess you'll have to watch the movie!

Starvation, dehydration, blizzards, and polar bear attack tossed in so you won't get bored.

Excellent movie.

Definitely a good movie. It's in my collection.

Another good one in a similar vein:

Anyone seen "T-34"?

Brutal. But we found it gripping as well.

Elliot - isn't a T-34 a tank?

The Antonov A-40!

Guess we can blame Doc on confusing us again

Yes.

There's a "softer" version, different title, in English from what I'm told but I had no problem with the subtitles. It ain't like an Indian soap opera. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I picked up a copy of T34 on BluRay out of the discount bin a couple years ago - it was very well done. Watched it on the 1080 projector with really big speakers and it held up nicely - it looked good even on the big screen.
