Hi all,

Getting completely off the subject of British cars: my youngest daughter, 8 years old, has expressed an ongoing interest in archery. While I have shot a compound bow - and was suitably impressed and enjoyed it immensely - my skills are zero in this department.

Does anyone on the BCF know (1) good forums to turn to for information, or (2) a decent starter kit? I can get a suction cup set for less than $30, but are they any good? I do not want to spend a lot of money on something that may be a fad. But at the same time I do not want poor equipment to make this a frustrating exercise. (And, as a father, I am happy she is showing an interest in archery and I want to encourage it!)

I plan to visit a local archery store, but it is about an hour from home, so it might be a few weeks before I find the time.

Thanks!

My son (who lives in Boston) just bought his 7 year old a set of golf clubs at Play it Again sports..... a perfect place to buy sports items that the kids will outgrow and have outgrown. Just a thought.

I'd look at a pawn shop. I small bow in the 15lbs range would probably be good for her to start on.

Thanks gentlemen! I like the pawn shop / play it again sports idea.

Mike, you might also look into a local YMCA. I know the one in Sewickley PA had archery activities for kids, I knew their activities director there back-when. Maybe there's an equivalent in your area.

Thanks all!! I've got some homework. I'll let you know how it turns out as the summer progresses. I'm looking forward to this!

Be sure to post a pic with the apple on your head. :D

Wait, hold my beer. I've got an apple on my head, I've got my cell phone set up for a selfie...

Now I just need the photography skills of Harold "Doc" Edgerton!!
