While I agree with you I'm guessing the "kid" that received it as a gift does not share the same affinity for the engine that we (members of the BCF) do.Ok, I'm sure some folks love this. I'm not one of them. I once owned a 54 XK120 and could not conceive of turning it into an electric car. The XK engine was (is) a marvel of engineering with a classic sound that melts my heart when I hear it. That is certainly a nice looking Jag, but I'd much rather have the original drive train. Just my humble opinion.
My sons are the opposite. No interest whatsoever in EVs. One drives a KIA Sportage and the other a Z06 Corvette. My son who grew up around me tinkering and restoring internal combustion engines has absolutely no interest in them at all and is casually looking at EV's
Both nice cars! I kind of forced my son to learn to drive a manual transmission but that was 20 years ago and it didn't appeal to him.My sons are the opposite. No interest whatsoever in EVs. One drives a KIA Sportage and the other a Z06 Corvette.
My older son (Z06) is a manual guy, but my youngest never learned to drive a standard.I kind of forced my son to learn to drive a manual transmission but that was 20 years ago and it didn't appeal to him.
Come to think of it, he's never "dialed" a phone either. By the time he was born, all our home phones were push button. My older son (Z06) is a manual guy, but my youngest never learned to drive a standard.
Oh yeah.... a Z06 with a manual is one cool ride!My older son (Z06) is a manual guy, but my youngest never learned to drive a standard.
In fact I just helped him change out the stock shifter last Weekend. Installed a B&N Ripper!Oh yeah.... a Z06 with a manual is one cool ride!
I can't imagine having a kid that would rather drive a car with an automatic much less one that would want an electric.
If it makes you feel any better, my mother now drives an automatic.
You're doing better than me. My kids don't even think dad's cars or scooters are interesting. My brother's 4 girls really have no interest in my cars either. In fact only 2 of the 4 have even learned to drive, the other 2 have no real interest and plan on living someday in a city and using only public transportation. They find my old stuff kind of interesting, but nothing they actually want to own or use.
