Ok, I'm sure some folks love this. I'm not one of them. I once owned a 54 XK120 and could not conceive of turning it into an electric car. The XK engine was (is) a marvel of engineering with a classic sound that melts my heart when I hear it. That is certainly a nice looking Jag, but I'd much rather have the original drive train. Just my humble opinion.

While I agree with you I'm guessing the "kid" that received it as a gift does not share the same affinity for the engine that we (members of the BCF) do.
The current generation (no pun intended ) will only know electric cars. My son who grew up around me tinkering and restoring internal combustion engines has absolutely no interest in them at all and is casually looking at EV's
The one positive thing I can say is that I bet the electric conversion is smoking FAST!

My sons are the opposite. No interest whatsoever in EVs. One drives a KIA Sportage and the other a Z06 Corvette.

Both nice cars! I kind of forced my son to learn to drive a manual transmission but that was 20 years ago and it didn't appeal to him.

My older son (Z06) is a manual guy, but my youngest never learned to drive a standard.

Come to think of it, he's never "dialed" a phone either. By the time he was born, all our home phones were push button.

My youngest son is more of a pickup guy, and we recently went in on a project together for when he gets out of the Corps this summer, a 1946 International 1 ton pickup.
My middle son is currently building my old daily driver, a 61 IH 1/2 ton pickup and is updating the drive train to a modern Cummins and five speed.
My daughter will have my current daily, a 94 Jeep, when she turns 16 and is currently learning to drive a standard (she's 12).
I can't imagine having a kid that would rather drive a car with an automatic much less one that would want an electric.

My brother's 4 girls really have no interest in my cars either. In fact only 2 of the 4 have even learned to drive, the other 2 have no real interest and plan on living someday in a city and using only public transportation. They find my old stuff kind of interesting, but nothing they actually want to own or use.

You know, I'd take that Jag in a heartbeat. Yep, I'd rather have both the beautiful chassis and the wonderful engine... but one of two still ain't bad!
And as a parent, I have one daughter who is a total gearhead, and the other a bookworm who thinks cars are a nuisance that gets her to her friend's house. As long as they (1) make their own decisions, and (2) respect that everyone thinks differently, I'm a happy camper. I'd rather have a fewer but truer motorheads than a bunch of folks who in turn become "DPO's". Then again, I also believe that a self-driving car is better for drivers who text and drive. Call me crazy! (respectfully

I'd be interested in more of the backstory. If the original Jag engine was toast already, than I don't have any issue with effectively a repower. However, if they took an otherwise nice example of a complete machine and ripped it apart to do this, then I'd be disappointed. I'd be curious to see any kind of statistics on the ratio of intact classic drivetrains (for any make) vs. overall vehicles.
