Dad had a late '30's Indian, his mother SOLD it after dad went off to war. I don't think he ever forgave her for that.

One of the best movies - EVER! A few things were changed from
what actually happened.He first came to Eureka,CA the first time he came to the US.
I talked to a few people who actually met him in Eureka.
If you ever get the chance,read the book "One Good Run" which tells the true
story.Great reading.
There will never be another Burt Munro.

Munro's story is a really impressive one. Just one old eccentric tinkerer who set a record that stood for decades. The movie is great but a bit Hollywood at the same time.

Hollywood or not I still love that film and Hopkins does a great job.
And having been lucky enough to have been to NZ inc the south island it’s amazing that he should achieve such an ambition as the US salt flats
But it also explains his resourcefulness- if you can’t make it - it doesn’t happen

One story I got was when Burt was in Eureka,he visited Lou Brero's
shop.He kept eyeing a can of nuts & bolts.When asked if he wanted them,
he got excited,& said "Yes!".
I was also told that they had to keep him away from the waitresses!

That was a total surprise to me and I laughed my butt off! Of course, the wife, who thought it was disgusting, didn't look at it the same as me!
