Moving and under current circumstances somewhat surreal.
Some of my in-laws are Ukranian, their descendants raised in the culture. I've somehow been 'adopted' into the family for decades, know the culture and history of the people well. At least a dozen of them were at some point part of "The Ukranian Dancers of Miami." Many of the extended family are living in Ukraine today. Dad-in-law was born in Lviv, escaped the Russians as a teen and shortly after, the Nazis. Some of the current incoming information is heart-wrenching.

My grandfather also fled the Nazi’s and the family arrived in NY fleeing the Ukrain.
My grandpa and his family were all blacksmiths. Got off the boat and made a new life here.
I had hoped to one day travel to Ukrain and visit the village where my family came from. Looks like it may never come to pass.

The only other thing I'll say is we all should remember how insignificant the things we may complain about are in the grand scheme of things.

You'd figure that eventually the foot starts to hurt with all those shots fired into it.

Problem with that is the foot changes generationally. Pain is a forgotten sensation.

And that generation that directly experienced the horrors of world war is nearly gone. Here, in Europe, in Russia and elsewhere those family and shared stories are reduced to books and papers where the emotional weight is lost leaving only "technical" details generally. Make it easier to recommit the same mistakes over and over.
Is this their National Anthem? Can anyone translate the words for me?
I went to You tube and found a translation in the comments. This is a prayer for Ukraine and not just well done, but a cappella as well. My Mennonite friends appreciate that, I'm sure. It makes me bitter to think that so many minorities in this country cannot identify with the Ukrainians, as they look more like me than them.
