This evening I swung into Costco to top up the Telluride. I ended up at the rear pump while a large pick up truck was at the front pump. We both finished pumping at about the same time and both jumped in to our vehicles at the same time. I started my car and waited for Truck Guy to pull away. All of the sudden I see his reverse lights come on! Yikes! I put my hand over the horn ready to sound the alarm just in case. Sure enough, he steps on the gas and starts lurching backwards! BEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPP!!!!! He realized his mistake just in the nick of time and mashed his breaks! I was sure he was going to cream the front end on my nice shiny Telly! Whew, that was too close! I love these nice relaxing trips to town during Rush hour! o_O

Your Telluride isn't exactly a small car - how the heck could the pickup driver not see it behind him? (I hate to admit, but I'm thinking he's got a raised pickup with oversize tires ...)

It had nothing to do with him not seeing meโ€ฆI think he just thought he was in Drive and inadvertently put it in Reverse

Wonder if it had one of the new "dial a direction" controls:

I've almost done the same thing. Stopped at a stop sign and a car trailer truck comes from the right and starts to turn left. He comes a bit too close for comfort, so I back up a few feet. He goes by safely, and the car behind me beeps to remind me to get the heck out of his way.

But I forget I'm in reverse and ... well ... sometimes those things happen!

Hey - them's fightin' words!

Was he possibly in a Chrysler product? They might have brought this one back.

I remember the buttons, which were on AMC cars also.

I will admit it's easy to get in reverse when going for second, and vice versa. First is so low, I usually start in second unless I'm starting up a hill or am in SF Bay Area traffic.

Yeah, but no one is building Ramblers anymore. But I am pretty sure there is a modern Dart.

Good grief - compare that Edsel dash to a MM Traveller:

hmmm maybe I should add some fuzzy dice? NOT

Does anyone else think that the grill of an Edsel looks a bit like a urinal?
