Somewhere between Questa and Eagle Nest

Mary and I went for a scenic drive Saturday - Albuquerque to Santa Fe - Taos - Questa - Red River - Eagle Nest - Angel Fire - Taos - SF - Home.

Somewhere between Red River and Eagle Next we came upon this fellow doing about 25 MPH on the little mini trike. We first came upon him as we rounded a corned going uphill. Glad I didn't run into him. Mary snapped the picture with her iPhone.

crazy! years ago we were driving along the North Shore of Lake Superior - in the middle of literally nowhere and passed a guy on a skateboard. I never really know whether they are brave or bonkers or both.

There was a man on a underpowered mini bike on I-55 south of St Louis at night recently that was hit and he was killed. Highway patrol were the ones that said it was underpowered for interstate traffic.

Minimum speed limit in Illinois is 45mph. Doesn't matter where, if vehicle can't hit 45mph, vehicle is regulated to small city streets.

A few years ago, five of my son's school mates were car pooling to school (Moriarty High) and for some reason the driver was playing games and driving intentionally slow on I-40. Long story short, a Semi came upon them and was unable to stop or avoid them and hit their car. Four of the kids were killed and one survived with serious injuries.

We would get people stopping & taking pictures in the middle of the road on
the Avenue of the Giants (Redwood trees). They didn't think about it being an active
highway.
A few of them aren't around anymore, due to that mindset.

They had someone round here get killed the other night riding a bike with no lights on a darker part of a busy street. After midnight and the person who hit them never saw the bike until too late. You have to wonder what goes through some folks heads to convince them what they do is safe.

Every time I drive down Central Ave at night I worry - lots of people walk along the sides and cross (jaywalk) wearing dark colors and sometimes impossible to see them.

And then you encounter children on e-bikes fashioned like motorcycles capable of 50+MPH, and not street legal, overtaking you on the parkways. No helmet, no brake lights, driven every which way without any sense. Crazy what lengths parents will go to get their children back to playing outside. It's sad that an initial $4000 investment could cost them their lives. My dashcam captures it all.

These same parents tell me my caged, fire suppresed, and harnessed race far is dangerous for racing.

There was one bike rider with no lights and dark clothes riding though our neighborhood one night. I probably would have hit him, except his face was lighted by the cell phone he was viewing (instead of where he was going).

The low end of the gene pool needs more chlorine!

Maybe it's just being older and not having grown up with the world on a screen in my hand. But when I drive the cell is in my pants pocket and not getting any attention from me. I have yet to configure the personal assistant and I have no interest in playing games or watching TV/movies on it. I make calls as needed and get the occasional text from a family member. These days I'm an antique or as I prefer, dinosaur....

All I have a phone for. Inhave blooth in the car and truck, but don't answer it. Texting is minimal, still believe the phone is to talk when needed not a live the life looking at it.

As posted before, I've an old Motorola Razr flip-phone, it can make and take 'phone-calls. I'm not important enuff to need 24/7 contact with anyone or anything. I'll only go kicking and screaming into the 21st Century where cellphones are concerned.

My sentiment, precisely. (y)

With you, Doc. I do have a new cellphone, only because wife bought it. My big excuse is I cannot hear it. Wife then set up remote bluetooth to my hearing aids. Took her a week to find that when i am in the garage the hearing aides are laying on the bench.

Larry!

My little flip phone works just fine. Calls and even texts. Synched to the Bluetooth in the Subaru - as is my wife's smartphone - it works hands off.
