will I ever learn?

So a substantial portion of today was spent McGyvering 4 Ikea Billy Book cases. (Fun fact it is estimated that every 5 seconds a Billy Bookcase is sold somewhere in the world)

These were bought in 5 second chunks over a decade ago and needed to go downstairs to a much lower ceilinged basement space. The job was not bad - The first bookcase took some time - including a new better blade for the chop saw - measure 17 times cut once - and making various jigs and templates to make it repeatable. By the end it took much longer to empty/ dismantle and reconstruct the bookcases than it actually took to cut them. In fact each case took tow saw cuts, one knife cut (the back) and 4 holes drilled and Bob's your mother's sibling.

So why the title? Well as ususal I can't even tell you how much time I spent worrying about, fussing about, planing thinking stewing about. And when I finally did it, it was waaaaaay less a job than I had built it up to be.

Story of my life.

So, will I ever learn? nah. not likely.

Makes up for the 20 minute jobs that take 3 hours.

Lucky. I moved 1 large cabinet with 3 sliding doors out of my apartment while preparing for renovations. No need to modify its size just take it apart carefully and assemble in our temporary location. All connections were supposed to be simple twist locks- just release, carefully take is apart, move and re-assemble. but no the company who assembled it added glue on the trim, 700000 staples on the back all driven in to far.. It wound up taking me an entire day just to get it apart and there still damage. re-assembling only took 1/2 of a day but it took a month to get the doors properly leveled. The though of moving it back .....hmmm I think the budget might just need to be expanded again...
