Anyone watching the Summer Olympics this year? We only have watched the results on the news, but haven't had much interest in watching the actual events this year. Seems like our kids are doing well, on top of the list so far. I like the Winter Olympics, we try not to miss any of those, my favorite is the downhill. :encouragement:

we've watcvhed it less than usual but more than we thought. It seemed like a gong show in many ways but, it is kind of nice to see something that isn't Covid and isn't a gong show with much more dire consequences.

'mits has watched some events, I've only seen bits, en passant.

Looking at the Marathon winners time and then comparing it to the 5 K races I have been involved with his time is mind blowing. The guy that has won the local Labor day race that for a number of years now had a best ever time of 14 minutes 50 seconds.
Eliud Kipchoge averaged a higher pace for the full 26 miles.
He has run the Marathon in under 2 hours in Austria in 2019. Time 1 59.40

Nope. not one minute.
Only when my wife is watching and there is absolutely nothing I can be doing in the shop.
Which is never.
I used to watch them but lately the hyped up commentary is off putting.
Also since syncronized swimming was added there are more and more questionable sports.

I can't imagine giving medals for something that requires such little athleticism as synchronized swimming.

I don't agree about the little athleticism as synchronized swimming.
Synchronized swimming requires as much athleticism as other activities, It's just not sports.
I agree with you as well, that's why I provided the link to previous Olympic events that required no athletic skill.
