The trip to Jerome, AZ followed an anfractuous course! (Trying out my new "word of the day" widget on my iPhone 🤓 )

That’s a circuitous way of describing the word anfractuous.
 
My new word for the day is “clavicle” which I broke in a bicycle accident on Friday.
 
Good grief Elliot!! At "our age" six weeks turns into twelve. Sorry to learn you're off the active duty roster!
 
It’s not pretty doc. “Hopefully” 6-8 weeks to be back but I’m not gonna put a timeframe on it.
 
Good. Don't. Even after the "time-frame" passes, the temptation to do something to strain the injury must be avoided.

I just got a text message that it has been delivered but I am in town right now so I won’t know for probably a little while how how it’s going to perform

Hey, at least ya got the other one you can keep using in the mean time.

Keep the sling snug and concentrate on good posture. You want it to heal in the right orientation. And do whatever range of motion stuff your doc/PT tell you to do. It's too easy to let those slide and end up with healed bones but lost movement capability. Strength can be rebuilt fairly quickly, mobility takes longer.

Broke both of mine. Luckily, fifteen years apart.
 
Thanks PC. X-ray shows a “nondisplaced fracture”. Your advice is spot on. As long as I keep using my sling and not trying to lift anything, I’m hoping to keep the break in alignment so it heals correctly. In four weeks I go for additional xrays; if it’s not healing correctly then surgery may be required. As you know the pain is intense. My ribs are also bruised so it’s not a good time right now.
