I am still collecting license plates. Eventually, when I have enough, they are going on the front gable over my porch.

Doc - here a 4*8*1/2" cdx plywood runs around $78. Hey - buy at least 70, and it's only $70 each!
What's the price for that in your neck o' the woods?
you can't wait a bit more? I suspect the price will drop before too long as the supply chains get sorted
Feel your pain, Bubba! The days of my climbing ladders are over (never was comfortable doing that anyway). At our age, discretion truly is the better part...Right now I don't know for sure. We've got 3/8" overhead here, no snow loads to contend with. When I do order the materials I'll know. Last time we did this it was myself and three pals, twenty years ago. This time it's a crew hire with me as observer, physically compromised by a right foot issue... Mo' money.
I'm procrastinating as well as I can, but the next-door house is having theirs done so the "crew" doing it will be able to leave the tear-off swarf gondola and trucks in place, some discount allowance for that. Time is not on my side for this. Rats. ratsratsratsrats!!
Back in the 90's we had a bungalow and decided to do the roof ourselves (all we could afford) it was so stinkin' hot we would work for a while - jump in the pool fully dressed - and dripping go back up on the roof. Ran out of holidays before we ran out roof so hired a roofer to finish. First thing he told us was that he wouldn't be sending a crew until the following week as it was currently too hot.Now that I'm semi crippled no more roofs for me. My left foot doesn't bend well enough to be on one now.
Decided then and there that one roof was enough and that I never needed to crawl on a roof shingling again. There are a few jobs that it are completely worth paying for and roofing is at the top of my list.
AMEN! And there are far too many other things for which they will call me an idiot...Back in the 90's we had a bungalow and decided to do the roof ourselves (all we could afford) it was so stinkin' hot we would work for a while - jump in the pool fully dressed - and dripping go back up on the roof. Oh and post script. I have buried a surprising number of people who died doing things they shouldn't have been doing any more - shoveling snow/ standing on ladders/ pruning trees etc. etc. There comes a point where letting someone else do it means if I am going to die doing something stupid - at least I am going to die doing something stupid I actually enjoy and something that they won't be calling me an idiot for at my funeral.![]()
Dang...I need 1 of those
In a word Covid. Huge supply chain disruptions plus mills that had to shut down plus massive increase in demand due to everyone locked in deciding to renovate. Here is Ontario's version but it is everywhere,What's the reason for the big price increase?
