Work continues on my Tri Carb. I will be installing Minilites on the car for the rally look and will probably go with the 5.5” width.

I'm thinking 195/65 tire size. I had 185/65 on my BJ8s with Dayton 5.5” wires.

Could I go to 205/65 or would I have rubbing issues at full steering lock? I have lowered the car 1” front and rear with lowering kits from AutoFarm/AH4H.

Suggestions / opinions / experiences anyone?

Tks

Besides rubbing issues, I would consider steering effort as well. That's a sizable increase of contact patch.

I run 205's on my '65 BJ8, stock ride height. A little inner rubbing in the rear during hard corning which could be solve with a spacer.

No Problem up front on the '65. The '57 #414 vintage racer's has some up front, but the driving style is much different....:lol2:

If going for the rally look unless a tarmac racer you don’t want wide tyres, 185/65 15 on 5.5 minilight look alikes should look good.

I put 195/65R15s on my former TR3 and it made steering when parking extremely difficult.
