No commentary except to say we are really disappointed. This was to be our 46th anniversary gift. Already have the plane tickets and hotel reservations in Seattle. Praying they can figure out some solution other than "wait another year." (PS: Please don't turn this into a thread about COVID restrictions, whether or not you agree with actions taken or not. It is what it is.)

It's because non-US flagged vessels are not allowed to go from one US port to another without stopping in a foreign port. Unfortunately, there are very few US flagged vessels. There are a few, though. Carnival, and the other major cruise likes are not.

We've taken a few European river cruises on Viking. They were talking about starting a Mississippi river cruise, but they are not US flagged and couldn't do it.

I know it. The ship we are booked on is flagged in Puerto Rico. You'd think Canada could let us at least stop there and not disembark - just to say we stopped! I hope there can be some kind of resonable compromise. Fingers crossed! Or maybe the US can come up with a way to waiver the (rather pointless in this case) requirement.

I feel your pain. I was SUPPOSED to be on a bike trip for my birthday two weeks ago. It was to be a 4 or 5 day winery trip overseas. Next year, next year....

Happy anniversary and birthday!
We lost a two week trip to Germany with our grand daughter last May. Travel insurance was worthless, American Airlines was gracious, and a couple hotels kept our deposits.
We anxiously await being able to travel internationally again!
Sorry about your trip - hang in there.

Dumb question, but isn't Puerto Rico part of the USA? (I realize it is not a state.) I'm not familiar with maritime laws.

Regardless, terribly sorry to hear of the cancellation!!

Not sure how it not being a state will affect all this stuff. Waiting to hear final word from Carnival.

I did a fly-in fishing trip to Canada the year before C 19. Great trip stayed on a floating lodge.
Basil No words on your new LOGO A great little book It goes back to the 73 74. How did you pick it as it makes a good point. Madflyer

On behalf of my people I apologize

OTOH I am not sure cruise ships are going to be safe any time soon and many of the proposed new regs "don't let anyone on a boat with a positive test - regardless of port." etc.

SWMBO & I love cruising but I am going to want to see many disease free sailings before I go back aboard.

Understand - we all have to make personal choices. If the cruise does go (and I hope it does), I know we will need to have paperwork showing a Negative test in order to board. I'm ok with that.

I sometimes pick Album icons from my music/ audio collection and JLS is a record that I've owned since it came out. I ripped it to my iTunes collection. It's just a great story with a great narration by Richard Harris.

If you like I could call Justin and ask for an exception. :jester:
