Hi, I have been busy installing carpet and trim sections in the Healey, but just came across this piece that goes under the passenger footwell to the outer panel beside the door. It is hollow and comes with a separate square piece of the vinyl. Clearly, I have to make something, but I can't find anything to show what it should look like. I took a photo, but it won't load as it is 3.7 MB. Can someone give me a clue, please?

The vinyl glues in place before the panel gets screwed on. Nothing to make. The cutout is supposed to give more foot room on right hand drive cars.

Hi, My car is LHD so do I need to have the cut out on the LHS of the car?

Not sure about the later models, but my 1960 BT7 which is a left hand drive car still has the cut out on the passenger side. I think they made all the interiors the same no matter if it was going to be a LHD or a RHD.
 
Yes left hand still has the cutout, but no you don't have to keep the cutout if you don't want to that is just how they came originally,

No cutout on the left hand side, only on the right. From the Concours Guidelines (too cold to go out in the garage to take pictures of my original BJ7 kick panels)

Footwell Panels, BN4, BN6, BN7, BT7, BJ7On all of the 6-cylinder roadsters and the BJ7 convertibles, the front footwell panelswere of similar design: millboard covered in leathercloth, but with a large cutout on theright side panel to give a bit more clearance for gas pedal operation (on RHD cars). Apiece of leathercloth was glued directly to the metal behind the cutout. Two additionaltrim screws with cup washers were added to retain the top and bottom “bands” aroundthe cutout. The lower screw was about 1” long – much longer than the other trimscrews
 
I wonder why the designers didn’t just put a depression in the side of the right side superstructure to provide a bit of room.
