TR2/3/3A Rear Axle Bearing Grease

My searches have yielded many posts about many subjects related to the outer bearings on the rear axles, but I can't seem to find what the correct grease is for this bearing. Having removed my axles I observe what appears to be black moly type grease in the bearings. Am I correct in cleaning as much of that out as I can and then repacking the bearing with high temp bearing grease (the red stuff)?

I'd think that any good wheel bearing grease should be OK. I look for a lube that is specifically rated for wheel bearings; it should say that on the package. It's probably more important to service them regularly than to use any particular brand of grease.
 
If you are talking about the TR 3 that is a solid axle housing and is lubed by the oil in the diff what you cleaned out was old cooked oil. The fill hole of the diff. is above the level of axle tube so oil run to bearings. Others correct me if I am wrong. I have never did more than change diff oil you may need to clean axle tube if the car sat for a long time at any point in it's life. Madflyer
 
So would the grease be general use grease or wheel bearing grease and do you fill bearing half way so seal does not blow out at temp. I know all good questions to pass on. Madflyer

It's just the same grease you use for the front suspension. The lube chart says "5 strokes" every 5000 miles. If you put too much in it doesn't blow the seal but it does get out and get into the rear brakes.
