What is the best thermostat for a BJ8 (California car)? (7pound cap)

Moss sells a lot of versions. 160F, 180F, $5. Failsafe 160F, 180F $17. Reproduction of original 160F $115.
BritishCarSpecialist sells one (Their description, sleeve closes off the by-pass, allowing more water to pass) for $45
Healey Surgeons, 160F, 180F $7

There's a lot of forum info on this. Do a search for: "Best alternative option to sleeved thermostat".
There you'll find links to other threads. These threads should answer all your questions.

Searching for "thermostat" will also yield a lot of discussion.

AUSMHLY, I know Moss can make things a guessing game sometimes. I have dealt with Healey Surgeons many times and if they sell it to you for your car it will work. Inan & Bruce at "Surgeons" are also experts on the Healeys and they will help with any questions.

Ditto Tom's Import Toys and British Car Specialists.
