A shout out to all the fire-fighters and first responders who have to work in horrible conditions to save lives.

Many friends and relatives are first responders. Heroes, all.

My nephew is getting close to retirement as a fire fighter. Really proud of him.

I have a few friends who are police and one who is an EMT. Wife has one nephew who's a policeman and another who is a volunteer fireman. Thank goodness there are people willing to take on such jobs.

The cold is not their only challenge. All the turnout gear in 100 degree weather is probable just as tough to deal with.

We should be very thankful for the service they provide rain or shine.

I was a volunteer Firefighter for 35 years.I really miss it.
I once asked a Policeman - "Why would anyone want to be a cop?"
He replied - "Who would want to be a Firefighter? - they run into burning buildings",
to which I replied "But that's the COOLEST part!".
It's one of the biggest rushes ever.

You never know who you'll meet.
